What is a Podcast?
Podcasting, a portmanteau of Apple's "iPod" and "broadcasting", is a method of publishing files to the Internet, allowing users to subscribe to a feed and receive new files automatically by subscription. It first became popular in late 2004, used largely for audio files.

Do I need an iPod to receive podcasts?
No, you do not need an iPod to listen to podcasts. Podcasts are merely RSS feeds that include an audio file in the enclosure field. Many of the newer RSS feed readers allow users to listen to podcasts.
